Holes is based around the family of Stanley Yelnats, who have a longing history of bad luck. And when a miscarriage of justice sends him to the Camp Green Lake Juvenile Detention Centre.

Which by the way isn’t green and does not have a lake…

But, Stanley is not surprised in the slightest.

Every single day, himself and his fellow inmates are ordered to dig a hole, five foot wide, five foot deep and have to report anything finding they come across.

The evil warden claims this is is a ‘character building’ exercise.

But this is a lie, and all of them know it is.

So Stanley must dig up the truth…
